Bruno Duque, who was originally from Provence in the south of France in the town of Avignon first experienced construction as a teenager renovating homes with his father. He is the leader of the “Cylinder Team” has been developing properties for over 10 years and brings his considerable experience in expediting the sometimes difficult construction environment presented by site conditions and the numerous required city approvals.
In addition to his financing know how Mr. Duque takes pride in being involved in the day to day design issues and challenges that confront him. No detail is too small for Mr. Duque and the results of his diligent pursuit of design excellence show up in his finished works.
Maris Peika, FAIA, is seasoned architect with rich portfolio of varied architectural accomplishments. Mr. Peika shows his ability to solve difficult site and code issues in the houses he has produced for Mr. Duque. The resulting spiral staircases and exposed structural truss roofs are both expressions of elegant spatial development as well as results of responding to site constraints and height restrictions.
Jose Mejia, who emigrated from Honduras twenty-five years ago, is a general contractor operating as Mejia’s K&A General Contracting is a specialist in renovating and constructing single family homes. Active in the Los Angeles residential market for more than a decade, Mejia’s K&A General Contracting has successfully completed numerous residential projects. Jose recently rebuilt a a 1,200 square foot, 2 bedroom, 1 bath house that was acquired for $900,000 into a six bedroom, four bath house with 3000 square feet, that sold for almost double the purchase price. He has done similar projects with similar results.
Working with Bruno Duque Jose has constructed Mr. Duque’s Cylinder 1 and Cylinder 2 the current rental and vacation rentals offered on this site. Jose has proven his dedication to quality and detail in the craftsmanship evident in the properties that he has delivered for Mr. Duque. Jose is part of the “Cylinder Team” that consists of Mr. Duque, the developer/designer, Mr. Peika, the architect, and Jose as the general contractor. The “Team” has worked together for over 8 years in California’s Venice Beach area and enjoys a spirit of cooperation that results in a seamless process from concept to occupancy in the projects they undertake.
